American Dad has been nominated in the Outstanding Animated Program category of this year’s Emmy Awards. The nomination is for the show’s season 4 premiere episode, 1600 Candles. Competition comes from Robot Chicken, South Park, and The Simpsons. Family Guy has also received nominations in two other categories: Outstanding Voiceover Performance (Seth MacFarlane) and Best Comedy.

The awards will be announced at the 61st annual Primetime Emmy Awards on September 20th, 2009.

American Dad really deserves to win this, and thanks to Family Guy being in a different category doesn’t run the risk of being overshadowed! Its a lot fresher than South Park or The Simpsons, and it is about time it was recognised for being the great show that it is.
