Fox reveal new season schedule - American Dad bumped mid-season (again!)

Fox have announced the Animation Domination schedule for next season, and sadly it seems that once again they are kicking American Dad into the 7.30pm death slot mid-season. Yes, just like this season when the Smiths made way for the spectacularly unsuccessful Sons of Tuson, 2011 will see it bumped by a new show; this time round its a new animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers created by Loren Bouchard.

Of course, as big fans of American Dad we are disappointed to see Fox do this to the show once again, but for the first half of the season the line-up is the same as before:

8.00pm: The Simpsons
8.30pm: The Cleveland Show - season 2
9.00pm: Family Guy - season 9
9.30pm: American Dad - season 6 (until mid-season)

After the holidays American Dad makes its move for Bob's Burgers "about a man, his family and their floundering burger joint." It's from the creator of Comedy Central's Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, Loren Bouchard and apparently has a "lovable and quirky family" (original).

Are you, like us, disappointed at Fox's treatment of Seth MacFarlane's second animated show?

In other news, the American Dad season finale last night pulled in 5.822 million viewers (the season premiere got 7.1 million). Family Guy was watched by 7.585 million and has its season finale next Sunday.

I’m REALLY getting sick and tired of how they’re treating American Dad. Bumping it all around the schedule like they did with Family Guy all those years ago. At least give it a chance.

Too bad that American Dad is one of those shows that won’t be appreciated ‘til it’s been canceled. It’s just so underrated.

I agree with you 100% Brian. I think there are a lot of people out there who just won’t give it a chance thinking it is just a Family Guy rip-off when it is really a great show in its own rights. It’s strange how Fox are so much keener on pushing The Cleveland Show than American Dad considering how long the latter has been on air (entering its sixth season in the fall).

I hope “American Dad!” survives the storm. Where else can you find an extreme republican dad with a fish that has the mind of a German guy or an alien who drinks silly juice and falls down? :D

Really sick of it. Their pushing Cleveland because it has much closer ties to Family Guy and does crossovers a lot, and is seen as a show much like FG. American Dad on the other hand, is it’s own thing. And it does it’s own thing wonderfully without the need of Family Guy’s help at ALL, and has done so for five years.

And this is not to demean the Cleveland Show. I love ALL three shows a lot. But it’s something to notice that American Dad has stood on it’s own two feet this long without any help from Family Guy.

And as Brian has said, I think a lot of people don’t give the show a chance because they think it’s a FG rip off, and it will probably be much more appreciated after it is canceled. And while the show does well, FOX will get rid of it as soon as they find something better to put in the time slot. It’s something that will probably happen sooner or later. Lets hope they can get another season after six, and “survive” the storm as someone above said. And if not, well I’m sure we’ll get some direct movies sometime, and maybe FOX will “uncancel” it if things go bad. But I feel FOX is deadset to do this, and it really makes me sad that they don’t give the show a chance.

Let American Dad prosper, FOX. Stop doing this. Look what happened to Family Guy and Futurama when you got rid of them. You didn’t look to smart, did you?

In my opinion american dad has really struck gold over the past few seasons. The show in my opinion is better than cleveland and family guy.I like all three shows but i have to admit i find myself laughing more at american dad.The last few new series that theyve tried on suday nights have failed.Sons of whatever it was called was a bust and that sit down and shut up was absolutlt devoid of comedy.Im glad to see people responding to this story and hope a lot of people come out in support of american dad. They obviously look at the show as if its expendable and it really feels like there only keeping it around until they can find something to replace it.“FOX LEAVE MY SUNDAY NIGHTS ALONE!!!!”

Fox is probably banking on the strong following of American Dad fans to keep watching the show no matter where they place it in the Animation Domination line-up. Lead-in shows are important to viewership, though, and once networks start screwing with the time slots that strong following inevitably drops off. I believe in the old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

Digital Spy have posted 3 preview clips of Bob’s Burgers, the show bumping American Dad into the death slot mid-season. Personally I am not very impressed and can see American Dad making a quick return to the 9.30 slot like it did earlier this year!

I actually found the clips quite funny. Obviously the Animation Domination shows have the immediate advantage of recognized characters we’ve grown to care about, but I think this show should be given a chance. At least it’s better than that over hyped farce that was “Sit Down, Shut Up”.

I still don’t agree however that it has the “right” to take AD’s slot.

Really? those clips were the best they could do? those sicken me! If AD loses a time slot it should be replaced with a show that is worth that slot.

Love the Family Guy and American Dad – not so much the spin-off “Cleveland Show” I’ll give it some more time! I really hope the writers give equal time for the current political powers like they have the previous one. Holly crap the amount of great material “Chicago way” a St. Val. hit with Stewie involved would be hilarious the hard ubber Left vs. the crazy Right. As long as Seth is hitting on everyone/everything the shows will keep us center-right and center-left people laughing our asses off. I know Seth is Hard Left – it doesn’t matter I still Love the shows and as long as the shows are funny I’ll keep watching and buying the DVDs.

    Big Fan!
