Seth MacFarlane talks of Family Guy movie, again

Peter Griffin

Speaking to Wired magazine at a special event to celebrate the 100th episode of American Dad Seth MacFarlane made further suggestions that plans for a Family Guy movie are moving forward:-

“Fox wants it. We know what we want to do with it. It’s just a question of finding the time,” he said. “That’s why The Simpsons took so many years to do theirs. It wasn’t because they didn’t know what they wanted to do with it. They just couldn’t fit it into the schedule.

“There’s so much to do for a weekly animated series — twice as much as you have to do for a live-action show. So, we’re finding time where we can. We’re in the early stages right now.”

@jamie m, I reckon you’ll need to be really patient as it is going to take a long time to put something like this together. From all the things said so far it sounds like they haven’t even written a script for the movie yet. I wouldn’t expect to see anything for at least 5 years!

I don’t want to sound too negative, but I can imagine that the Family Guy series will first have to end before they make the movie.
I mean, they are saying that they just can’t squeeze it in the schedule. And when you put it in context with Seth MacFarlane saying how he could not make so many seasons as The Simpsons made. Well … I guess we are looking at last few years of new Family Guy episodes.
But hey, take my thoughts only as the worst case scenario. :)
