Playboy Magazine’s interview with Seth MacFarlane appears in their September 2009 issue, and is posted online. Interesting discussion topics include: Tap dance lessons (Seth is currently taking them); getting high and ordering Chips Ahoy! cookies; and the influence his parents’ wicked sense of humor had on his upbringing.
Seth discusses the song he wrote for Stewie entitled “Down Syndrome Girl” for an upcoming episode of Family Guy. There’s also a mention of the nerds who post on the Planet Family Guy-related message boards, damnyouall.net.
In the article, written by Rob Tannenbaum, Seth is quoted as saying: “There’s a site called damnyouall.net that is part of the Family Guy fan site. It’s kind of hilarious because it’s a group of avid viewers. They watch every week, and every week they talk about how terrible the show is and then come back and watch the next week and talk about how terrible it is again. If the show is polarizing, it’s better than if it’s just pleasant. That’s something you see in animation fans, science fiction fans and comic book fans—all the nerds, basically. Nerds can get really angry. This is not meant to sound insensitive to their plight, but when you pour a disproportionate amount of your life force into one particular thing you can lose some objectivity.”

Me too. Postings on damnyouall.net do get rather heated. In the article, Seth says he was a “Star Trek nerd”, so what he says about nerds can be applied to himself as well. Though, I don’t think we get ‘angry’ so much as we are ‘passionate’.
