Alex Borstein has been talking to IF Magazine and has revealed some details of Seth MacFarlane's fourth animated show for Fox. Most importantly is that Alex will be very much a part of the new show, voicing the series lead character, who is female.
Alex is developing the show alongside Gary Janetti who has written for Family Guy in the past. Whilst it will look similar in style to Family Guy it will have a different feel; "It’s not a spin off of Family Guy," revealed Alex who also stated that, "it’s a little more my flavor."
Avoiding to give away too much she did confirm that the show would involve a family with pets, so not going too far away from Seth's winning format. However, the fact that the show's main character will be a woman is quite different incomparrison to most other animated sitcoms out there.
We'll report further details of this new show as we learn of it.

I have just figured out why family guy isnt funny anymore since season 4! You guys keep making new shows which takes more writers! Cancel American Dad, Cleveland and this new show! And change our Family Guy characters back to the ones we know in love.Ever since season 5, Family Guy has changed far too much, with characters undergoing major changes and not resembling what they used to. I’ve grown sick of this so here’s how they were, how they are, and possible solutions.
Peter
Then: Moronic, and very over the wall, but caring and loved his family very much. Will do things that make sense to him fueled by Brian’s sarcastic remarks and television (ie dropping the taxpayers money for them at the Superbowl, trying to make Luke Perry look gay, and posing as a student to stop drug use.
Now: Far too stupid, acts like a child, and is an asshole to everyone, especially Meg. Does things that make no sense whatsoever (ie turning the stairs into a waterslide and destroying Brians efforts to legalize weed to use a yo-yo)
Solution: Just bring him back to how he was, even if it takes a flashback episode for him to realize these changes and change back.
Lois
Then: Loved her family very much, against all kinds of sins, and was a pleasant person.
Now: Makes Elaine Benice and George Costanza look like saints and hates Meg so much it isn’t funny anymore.
Solution: Make her like her old version most of the time and like her new version when high or drunk so there’s an explanation.
Stewie
Then: Bent on world domination, wanted to kill Lois, made insane super villain schemes, always gets outsmarted by Brian.
Now: Gay crossdresser sometimes, wanna-be frat douchebag others. Outsmarts Brian.
Solution: Make him fall into his old ways and have Rupert be his outlet for him being gay (those fantasies about Rupert were actually pretty damn funny)
Brian
Then: Probably the best character, sarcastic, witty, cultured, and hilariously critical of Peter. Won every argument against everyone (especially Stewie)
Now: Liberal one-sided jackass who can’t make a comeback against Peter.
Solution:Have him lose faith in politics and go back into his old ways. More plots focusing on him tagging along with Peter’s schemes.
Meg
Then: Unpopular at school, a little whiny, but her family loved her. Brian made comments about how she could get annoying.
Now: Everyone hates her so much it’s annoying.
Solution: Peter now likes her, just do the same with Lois so he won’t hide it anymore.
Chris:
Then: Funny one-liners with an occasional plot of him and Peter doing something stupid.
Now: How many episodes did he speak in this season? Pretty annoying when he does talk except when it’s about movies.
Solution: Show him at least once an episode and have him talk about movies when you show him. Whether or not he says something funny as long as it’s not copy and paste it’s pretty entertaining.

Kyle, you are right on everything. Another show about ANOTHER FAMILY?!! Come on Seth and Alex!! Instead of following the same format, why don’t you do a Meg spinoff? It will have a female lead but Meg will be in college with her old friends and she will have new friends and teachers. She will have a new look, her talents like bird calling and the show will spoof college and teen dramas. It would be a refreshing change from doing another family show. Give Meg her own show and hire writers and even more female writers who know how to write for women.

I dont care if you Family Guy writers think I am a douchebag. I care that I am speaking out for all the former Family Guy fans out there.

Also, they need to stop running back to the old jokes that fans used to laugh at. Enough with people falling down fast with an arm across their back, enough of people hurting themselves and going “ooh! ahh!” for three minutes and the old pervert thing has long been tapped dry.
They tend to drag waaay too many jokes out for far too long. Where they have room for 12 jokes, they only bother with 6 or 7 and call it a day.

The change was so subtle over time that I hadn’t even thought about it. I’m watching an episode from 2000 on TBS and I don’t laugh nearly as hard Sunday nights…Although I will admit to being one of the few American Dad fans.

Im not that big a fan of family guy anymore since the writers and creators decided to use it as an outlet for there political and religous beliefs.Cleveland on the other hand is very funny and i disagree with anyone who says its a rip off of family guy.Ok,it is a little but it is funny and i really enjoy the writing. Also i would like to say that i enjoyed the last episode of family guy because it didnt rely so much on cut aways.I like cutaways if there funny and they make since but 99.9% of the time familyguys cutaways just arent funny anymore.
