Planet Family Guy predicts the top 20 featured Family Guy characters

Top 20 characters prediction

You may have read the other day that the BBC in the UK is going to be airing an original documentary charting the top 20 characters featured on all of the Family Guy series based on screen time. There's still no date for the show yet, but it got us thinking here at Planet Family Guy, who would make it onto the list? Well we've banded together and put together our predictions for the top 20.

Our list of predictions is a merged list based on our individual predictions. A character made it to the list if they were chosen by several of us and their placement in the list by the average position from the different lists. There are no real surprises for our top 6 characters, although there was a little disagreement amongst us other the ordering of Stewie and Brian; otherwise we all came up with the same top 10 characters!!! Shame on us all if we get those wrong then. Things get a little more interesting after that and that is partly why the list presented below counts down from the most featured to the least.

So, here you go. This is Planet Family Guy's predictions for the top 20 most featured characters on Family Guy starting with the character with most screen time:-

  1. Peter Griffin
  2. Stewie Griffin
  3. Brian
  4. Lois Griffin
  5. Chris Griffin
  6. Meg Griffin
  7. Glen Quagmire
  8. Joe Swanson
  9. Cleveland Brown
  10. Mort Goldman
  11. Carter Pewterschmidt
  12. Mayor Adam West
  13. Neil Goldman
  14. Barbara Pewterschmidt
  15. Tom Tucker
  16. Dianne Simmons
  17. Herbert
  18. Ernie the Giant Chicken
  19. Jillian Russell
  20. The Evil Monkey

We should just mention a few of the names that were suggested but didn't make it to our final list. Mark predicted that Joe's wife Bonnie would make it into the top 15, but no one else even mentioned her! Horace and Tricia Takanawa both got mentioned, but due to their low positioning in the predictions fell off the bottom of the list; and finally Laurie predicted Conway Twitty for #20 stating, "#20 is sort of a goof, but think it's kind of funny?"

So what do you think, have we missed anyone off the list that really should have made it into the top 20? Have you got your own set of predictions for the list? Post them below, but remember this is not about popularity but characters that have featured the most in the series. When the final list gets announced we will post it up on the site (and probably hang our heads in shame over our predicitons above).

I’m inclined to agree with Samm over Tricia Takanawa. As mentioned in the article above she just narrowly missed making it to our final list.

Brian, do you really feel that Stewie has had more screen time than Peter?

  5. Brian on Monday April 12, 2010 at 03:19:59 PM said:

Ahh, okay I didn’t realise it was based on screen time. Yeah, in that case, Peter will undoubtedly place 1st.

@Brian, that seems to be what the BBC were suggesting on their blog (although they did release it on the 1st April!!!).

Peter has got to be on the top position surely?

Well, Ive checked the archives.. Lois, Peter, Brian and Stewie have been in every single episode. But I suppose when Brian & Stewie airs, they will be the only two (unless Peter and Lois make an appearance)

also, don’t forget about the road to.. their sure to boost Stewie’s air time, I definately think it will be close between Peter and Stewie

last weeks episode was kind of week. what the writers of Family Guy needs is one episode that goes above and beond!

It is going to be very close between Brian and Stewie, but I suspect Stewie has had a little more screen time. Guessing numbers 11-20 is so much harder. Tricia Takanawa must surely be in there somewhere, although I don’t think she’s appeared more than Tom and Dianne as Samm has suggested.

    It’s a really interesting idea for a list/chart.

  12. Brian on Thursday April 15, 2010 at 07:24:25 PM said:

Yes, given “Brian and Stewie”, seems one of these two will be awarded first place. And yes, the “Road to” episodes will probably help this further. So I’m going to go with Stewie as placing #1.

Most of the Brian episodes suck!

There’s no way Meg will place in the top 6. Joe, Cleaveland or Quagmire should edge her out of 6th place. There are some episodes where we never see her!

You forgot about the funniest character – dr. Hartman! I love his appearances ;)

@Jacek, I’ve always loved the character Dr. Hartman, he just doesn’t appear enough on the show (and therefore is unlikely to appear in this chart)!
