Due to the economic downturn 20th Century Fox Television is implementing production budget cuts to all its shows. Producers have been told to make 2% cuts to budgets which includes shows like Family Guy and American Dad.
ABC Studios’ have called for similar cuts, whilst NBC Universal and CBS Corp. have laid off staff in response to the current financial crisis.

They pay Seth $100 million, yet they have to cut production costs on his shows. Irony!

Seth is basically overpaid to retain him at Fox. These budget cuts just mean that they are wasting money to keep him whilst his shows (along with others) suffer due to the economy!

I didn’t know that 2% would make such a big difference – does it?

To produce an animated show like Family Guy is expensive; if they make the most from the budget they’ve got then even a 2% cut is going to be noticed by the production. Whether as the audience we can notice it is another thing. It’s just not the sort of news the great people on the show probably want to hear.
If Fox are making a 2% cut in production budgets to ride the current economic downturn, then that 2% must be relatively significant for it to be worth making.

2% represents the cost of a half episode so we’ll probably have an episode with memorable moments from the previous seasons…

Nah I’d say they’ll average it out across the series. They just may not be able to do 3D sequences like in “Road To Germany” and such.
