The 36th annual People’s Choice Awards show is scheduled to be broadcast on January 6, 2010, and you have the power to help Family Guy become one of the official nominees for Favorite TV Comedy or Favorite TV Obsession.

There’s only a few more days remaining to vote for nominees, so for Favorite TV Comedy, click here to view the ballot and vote.

Write-in submissions are also accepted. To vote for Favorite TV Obsession, click the “Other” box , write in “Family Guy” next to it, and then cast your vote.

And be sure to nominate Seth MacFarlane for Favorite TV Comedy Actor.

The top five nominees in each category will be announced in a press conference on November 10, 2009.

Executive producer and writer of Family Guy Danny Smith is to receive an Excellence in the Arts award from the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council in honour of his work on the show which has raised the image of Rhode Island.

In the first week of release Family Guy Volume 7 has topped the DVD sales chart for television shows with 273,627 units sold ($7.6 million). HBO’s True Blood was in second place for its fifth week of release with 107,115 units (total 1,099,995 units).

The Los Angeles Times have raised the interesting question of why Fox decided to release the DVD after Emmy nomination voting commenced as the media attention of the DVD would have aided Family Guy‘s chance of getting nominated for best sitcom.

Family Guy and American Dad feature on this years Teen Choice Awards nominations list for the Choice TV: Animated Show award alongside The Simpsons, South Park, and SpongeBob SquarePants. The awards celebrate the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports, and fashion and you can vote for your favourites on the Teen Choice Awards 2009 website.

The award ceremony airs on Fox August 10th.

Seth MacFarlane was honoured at this year’s Webby Awards for his hit web-animation series Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy winning the Film & Video Person of the Year award. Keeping to the tradition of five word acceptance speeches at the Webbys Seth MacFarlane said: “What is this for again?”

Also at the 13th Annual Webby Awards Arianna Huffington, from The Cleveland Show, won Best Political Blog for her Huffington Post blog. “I didn’t kill newspapers, OK?” was her five word speech.

Seth MacFarlane has been awarded a Special Achievement Award as part of the 13th annual Webby Awards:-

Family Guy is up against The Simpsons in the 23rd Genesis Awards after being nominated for the Sid Caesar Comedy Award. The Humane Society of the United States’ Genesis Awards aim to acknowledge the media’s work in raising public awareness of animal issues. Family Guy has been nominated for the episode McStroke, up against The Simpsons’ episode Apocalypse Cow.

Seth MacFarlane has been nominated for the “Voice Acting in an Animated Television Production or Short Form” award at the 2008 Annie Awards. The nomination is for his voice work as Peter Griffin in I Dream of Jesus. He’s up against Ahmed Best (Robot Chicken) and Dwight Schultz (Chowder). The winner will be announced at the 36th Annual Annie Awards ceremony on Friday January 30, 2009.

The Family Guy Star Wars special, Blue Harvest, has won a TV DVD award. Family Guy: Blue Harvest was named Best Animated TV DVD during the ceremony on Tuesday night. A panel of judges made up of top DVD critics and journalists selected four finalists for each of the categories for the awards, including “Best Animated TV DVD” and the final vote was decided by a consumer poll.

Congratulations Family Guy and to all the hard working people who were involved in the production of the episode and DVD.
