Planet Family Guy

One month ago, after learning that the BBC were putting together a chart of the top 20 Family Guy characters that had amassed the most screen-time we thought we'd have a go at predicting it.  Last night BBC Three screened the countdown and our prediction results are now in.  The results are very interesting!

(Just as an aside, if you haven't seen the show yet it's on again tonight at 9pm on BBC Three in the UK.  If you plan on watching it you may not want to read on, spoilers do follow!  Also, the show is sadly not available on iPlayer.)

You may have read the other day that the BBC in the UK is going to be airing an original documentary charting the top 20 characters featured on all of the Family Guy series based on screen time. There's still no date for the show yet, but it got us thinking here at Planet Family Guy, who would make it onto the list? Well we've banded together and put together our predictions for the top 20.

Yet another IGN Family Guy top ten has been compiled: this time it’s their top ten Family Guy fights.

TV.com have included Family Guy‘s Meg in its Top 10: Characters that need to be killed off list. Here’s TV.com’s anonymous critic’s reasoning:

“Meg’s story lines are boring, her voice is annoying, and do you remember the episode with the shower scene that involved, ‘flossing’? Yuck. Meg is by far the least funny character on Family Guy and ought to start a support group for similar, un-funny characters like Lisa Simpson, Jonathan Bower (Who’s the Boss?) and Tim Meadows. I suppose every surreal comedy show needs a somewhat ‘normal’ character to offset the craziness, but then again, she’s still not funny, so I vote she be fed to giant Iranian goat-eating cockroaches.”

Meg comes in at number 4, with Scrub‘s John “J.D.” Dorian character played by Zach Braff coming in at number 1!

IGN appear to love making Family Guy lists; the latest is IGN’s top 10 Cleveland moments (a look back at Mike Henry’s character’s most memorable bits before his own show débuts in the fall).

IGN have just released another article in their Top 25 Feature and this time its Family Guy! As stated in the official article: “In this Top 25 Countdown, we rank our favorite Family Guy characters of all time. The criteria are simple. These characters are the ones that have proved enduringly popular over the course of the show. They’re the ones that are consistently able to make us laugh. And, when those fail, the winners are decided with a dose of ‘Because we said so.’ “
