20th Century Fox Television logo

Family Guy vetrans Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild have both signed overall deals with 20th Century Fox TV according to Deadline. The deal means that they'll both continue to work on Family Guy as executive producers whilst getting a go at developing new shows for Fox.

It is expected that their first new show will be something live-action as opposed to another animated series.

Sulkin and Wild have been with Family Guy since it returned to Fox in 2005.

"We have always felt like 20th was our home, so we’re thrilled to solidify our relationship with the studio," Sulkin and Wild said. "We have had a tremendous opportunity working with Seth, and are excited to continue on Family Guy, and look forward to the new projects we will develop over the next three years.”

The writing duo started out on the first season of CBS's The Late Show with Craig Kilborn and have recently sold an R-rated feature film called Ted to Universal Pictures alongside Seth MacFarlane.

Family Guy's Zuckerman to adapt aussie comedy for FX pilot

Wilfred

Family Guy's David Zuckerman has been named by FX to adapt the Australian comedy Wilfred for pilot along with Jason Gann. Gann co-created and starred in the original.  It's a live action comedy about a girl, her dog Wilfred and her boyfriend, Adam. The twist is that only Adam can see that Wilfred is actually a man dressed in a blatant dog costume:

“Wilfred is about a guy, the girl next door, and mixed-breed dog, Wilfred, who is part Labrador retriever and part Russell Crowe on a bender,” said Zuckerman.  “Jason Gann is one of the funniest, most twisted minds I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, despite being a foreigner and therefore untrustworthy.  And I’m thrilled to be part of the FX family -- their support and enthusiasm has been extraordinary.”

New animated show from Seth coming to Fox?

Seth MacFarlane. Photos: The New York Times

Could another Seth MacFarlane animated series be heading its way to Fox? Well according to iF Magazine it could be:-

“He’s stretched thin,” admits Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly at today’s Winter TCA. “We’ve got one other show we’re contemplating with Seth and looking to broaden our animation brand out too. I love working with the guy, but our plan is not all Seth, all the time. He has something up his sleeve that’s animated, so we’re going to continue to be in business with him for quite a few years and I think you’ll see us to broaden out that brand a little bit.”

As yet there are no other details than this, but we will keep you posted.

Remember you’ll find all the latest Seth related news.

Family Guy Style Puppet Comedy

We Are Mongrels

BBC3 has just commissioned a brand new show We are Mongrels which has been pitched as “Avenue Q meets Family Guy”. We Are Mongrels centers on a country fox in search of ‘the real wild life’ in the city, where he meets an array of creatures on the Isle of Dogs, including a ‘sexy’ Afghan Hound with whom he falls in love, a street cat and a sarcastic pigeon from Blackburn.

The executive producer, Steven McCrumb, has said this about the new adult puppet show; “It has a lot of cutaways and flashbacks and it’s fast-moving – more like an animation with puppets than a traditional sitcom. It gives you the licence to do things you can’t with live action. We pitched it as Avenue Q meets Family Guy: it’s playfully adult like Family Guy, but it’s not crude in a Two Pints way.”

Update (24 July): Information about We Are Mongrels can be found on the British Comedy Guide website.
