BBC3 has just commissioned a brand new show We are Mongrels which has been pitched as “Avenue Q meets Family Guy”. We Are Mongrels centers on a country fox in search of ‘the real wild life’ in the city, where he meets an array of creatures on the Isle of Dogs, including a ‘sexy’ Afghan Hound with whom he falls in love, a street cat and a sarcastic pigeon from Blackburn.

The executive producer, Steven McCrumb, has said this about the new adult puppet show; “It has a lot of cut­aways and flashbacks and it’s fast-moving – more like an animation with puppets than a traditional sitcom. It gives you the licence to do things you can’t with live action. We pitched it as Avenue Q meets Family Guy: it’s play­fully adult like Family Guy, but it’s not crude in a Two Pints way.”

Seth Green’s Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II is out on DVD today.

David A. Goodman (executive producer of Family Guy and one of the show’s writers) is working on a script for a new Hong Kong Phooey movie. Hong Kong Phooey was a Hanna-Barbera cartoon that aired during the mid-1970s; Phooey was a kung-fu fighting dog with a sidekick cat who fought crime together. The current plan is that the film will be a live-action/CGI hybrid like the Scooby Doo movies.

Seth MacFarlane’s role in new ABC sci-fi series FlashForward has been confirmed by the show’s executive producer, David Goyer, as a recurring part.

According to Goyer Seth MacFarlane had asked if there was a part for him in the show: “Seth called me up. He said ‘I f**king love this script.”

Family Guy‘s Seth MacFarlane is to be making an appearance in ABC’s new sci-fi series Flash Forward. The show is scheduled for the 2009-2010 season, and a clip of Seth on Flash Forward has appeared on Youtube.

With all the money that Seth is making these days, he’s just gone and bought himself his own plane!

Next Sunday sees the season finales of Family Guy, American Dad, The Simpsons, Sit Down, Shut Up, and King of the Hill on Fox’s Animation Domination; to mark the occasion an animated Eminem and Family Guy‘s Stewie will host the evening throughout the line-up. According to the press release, “fans should tune in for an exclusive surprise MySpace Music announcement they won’t want to miss and visit www.myspace.com/music that evening for additional details.”

“It was a thrill to work with Stewie,” said Eminem. “I’m a big fan of talking babies and their humor.”

On working with Eminem, Stewie said “I was just about to meet him, but after I shook hands with his stylist, his assistant, his lawyer, his bodyguard, his other bodyguard, his photographer, his manager, his hanger-on, his flower girl, his driver, his videographer, his notary, his historian, his her-storian, his texter and his own greased-up deaf guy, I got the swine flu.”

The Family Guy season 7 finale is Peter’s Progress at 9pm in which Peter has his palm read by a psychic who reveals that he had a fascinating past life in the 17th century as Griffin Peterson.

Seth MacFarlane has recorded a couple of Eco Tips for Earth Day, one as Stewie and another as Peter.

The release of Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade Of Cartoon Comedy on Blu-ray and DVD has been put back from April 21 to May 12. The Blu-ray/DVD release will feature some 50 shorts including never before seen episodes that were “too outrageous for TV or the internet!”

As for new episodes of Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade Of Cartoon Comedy on the web, there appears to have been yet another delay possibly the result of Youtube needing to find another sponsor for the shorts.

AudioMicro, the online music library, is adding over 170 original scores from Family Guy composer Ron Jones to its collection. According to the press release: “The addition of Ron Jones’ collection permits the popular composer’s work to be available for use in everyday video projects from YouTube movies to short films, all at affordable licensing fees as little as $1 per minute.”
