One of Meg's fellow students, he is very geeky. Neil is the editor of the school newspaper. He also has a big crush on Meg, but she just isn't interested.

Biography

Neil is a big fan of the original "Star Trek" series, claiming that Captain Kirk is "inherently superior to Jean-Luc Picard."
He is the editor-in-chief of the James Woods High school newspaper, where he briefly employed Meg Griffin hoping that it would bring them closer. His career in journalism progressed further when he won an internship at the local news station working for Tom Tucker alongside Meg once again. Whilst out reporting from a helicopter Neil stole a kiss from Meg, but then destroyed his chances of progressing their relationship by broadcasting the kiss on the local news.
In "8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter", Neil started dating Cecilia, another classmate, and Meg immediately became jealous and agreed to be sold to the Goldman family as Neil's girlfriend, but regretted it very soon. The contract was annulled after Neil was seduced by Meg's mother Lois.
Notes
Neil Goldman is one of a number of characters on the show named after members of the production staff. The character is named after the script writer Neil Goldman who hasn't written scripts for episodes that contain his fictional counterpart.
