Written by Kirker Butler and directed by Dan Povenmire

After Peter buys a military tank with Meg's money, her car fund goes out the window and she's forced to get a job at the newly built Superstore in town. Cultural references

Cultural references from Hell Comes to Quahog.

ReferenceDetails
A Fifth of BeethovenThe song the guys dance to in the roller rink is "A Fifth of Beethoven" by Walter Murphy which was popularized in the film "Saturday Night Fever". This is a reference to the movie, not Beethoven's 5th...
BeethovenPeter was dancing to Beethoven no.5.
Christian RockMeg is seen loading a shelf of the Superstore USA with Chritian Rock albums. Christian Rock is a genre of music that is essentially rock with a spiritual, religious message.
Crimes against nature bookBrian appears to be reading a book called 'Crimes against Nature.' Given the political and environmental critiques he makes in the episode, this is likely a reference to "Crimes against nature: How George W. Bush and His Corporate Pals Are Plundering the Country and Hijacking Our Democracy " by Robert F Kennedy Jr.
EbayJoe has bought a hand mirror off of Ebay a popular auction website.
Electric CompanyAnchor Diane yells "Hey you guys!" and then the opening sequence from the kids show starts.
HummerA reference is made to a guy driving a yellow hummer on a highway,
Iceman / X-menThe X-men character Iceman appears in a cut-scene in which his wife wants to know where he went the night before. Iceman says he was out with friends, then she points to the gay club across the road to which he has left an ice trail. She gets upset and he responds, "At least they know how to touch a man!"
Jurassic ParkWhen Brian and Stewie are blowing up Superstore USA, the manager runs into the bathroom and gets crushed by the smiley face sign. The only difference in Jurassic Park from Family Guy was the sign was a T-Rex.
MadagascarThe guy in the yellow hummer is watching Madagascar on a DVD player.
Monster In the BasementThe monster in the basement that Meg talks to is clearly a reference to the monster in "The Goonies" as he looks almost identical and was locked up in a basement in the movie as well.
Mr. MoosePeter refers to Mr. Moose from Captain Kangroo after Joe looses the last ping pong ball from playing the game. Mr. Moose says "knock knock" like he did in Captain Kangroo and when Peter says "Ping Pong balls!", they fall from the sky.
Pepperidge FarmThe show parodies a Pepperidge Farm commercial in which an old man reminisces about the good old days by saying "Remember when ___? Pepperidge Farm remembers."
Richard GereA gerbil comes out of his butt and takes the easter egg. A rumor was out about Gere gerbilling.
SATPeter is taking the SATs. Also he uses a Chinese boy instead of a calculator.
Show GirlsThe show references the movie "Show Girls", which Peter likes. But when they mention that it is on TBS, Peter gets sad.
Tom BrokawA gang of Tom Brokaws is seen. The gang thing isn't areference to anything, although Tom Brokaw is a popular journalist.
TumbleweedsWhen almost every store in Quahog besides the Superstore, the only man making money is a ma who makes tumbleweeds. This is an obvious reference to movies, mainly westerns, that have tumbleweeds roll by deserted streets. This type of thing has become famous over time as many movies and shows have been parodying it for decades.
VolvoThe retail man shows Meg a 1997 Volvo Sedan.
Wal-MartSuperstore is a reference to the Wal-Mart Supercenter chain of stores that are notorious for causing local "mom and pop" stores to go out of business. In this episode, the buildings are designed to look identical, in shape and in color scheme.
WalMartIn the Superstore USA, many posters are on the wall with a yellow sun with a smiley face on it. In Walmart, they have smiley faces that look almost the same, with the sun rays.
XanaduThe roller skating rink choreographed dance is from the 80's movie, "Xanadu" with Olivia Netwon John.
York Peppermint PattiesWhen peter walks into Superstore USA, he gets the sensation that he's standing on a mountaintop with the wind blowing through his hair

In this episode, Seth MacFarlane and cast somehow slipped in an F-bomb during the Hummer cutaway, in which the driver says that the animals from the film Madagascar are f-in' hilarious. This scene was edited in some places.
