UK: Series 3 begins on BBC Two tomorrow

Posted by Andy on Friday, October 21, 2005 in Europe

Family Guy returns to UK tomorrow (Saturday 22nd October) on BBC Two at 10.10pm. There has been a lot of confusion over which series we are expected to see, the third or the fourth. The BBC have confirmed in an e-mail to one of our visitors, Martin, that tomorrow sees the start of series 3.

‘To date we do not have transmission details for Season 4 of Family Guy however I can confirm that we have aquired the rights and it will be shown next year.’

Therefore, tomorrow’s episode should be The Thin White Line. The new series of American Dad follows Family Guy.

If you are desperate to see new Family Guy material, remember that Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story is out on Monday in the UK (read our review).

Radio Times have listed tonight’s episodes of Family Guy and American Dad as highlights of the evenings schedule. Also, the BBC have launched their own Family Guy website featuring clips, an interview with Seth MacFarlane, and a quiz.

Wait? What? There are more than one Family Guy series? I know there is the original. Is American Dad a second Family Guy series? What's the third series?

  4. sammy (Sat 22 October 2005)

hey! it's really cool that its coming back on!!!!!!!!!

Abby, sorry if my post confused you. In the UK a series is the equivalent to a season in the US. Although, rather confusingly a series in the UK can also mean series in the sense of the US word. You have to look at the context to figure out which meaning was intended. There are just two shows, Family Guy and American Dad.

I am sure others noticed but Family Guy was cut big time, even though it was on at 10pm. Dont think I'll be watching season 4, I'll be waiting for the dvd sonone of the gags are missing.
    BBC tv, shame on you.

Michael, perhaps you haven't noticed, but the DVD episodes were also censored. Fox often edits them after they were first shown in the US leaving people like the BBC no choice but to show the edited version (the Bin Laden joke from 'Road to Rhode Island' springs to mind).

yeah we all know its great but why cant the bring out season 4 on bbc2 insteado of season 3? i have season 3 and its really great but watching it agen 4 another 21 weeks is boring american dad is fucking great:D

So Michael (or anyone who taped it), what was cut from Family Guy's BBC2 screening? I was amazed with what they left *in*, to be honest (George Harrison's stabbing?! The man's been dead for four years!!). And if anything was missing from Road To Rhode Island it was probably Channel Four's fault; it went out on Saturday luchtime, and I remember the "Well Lois, I guess *one* of us has joined the mile-high club!" punchline was omitted, to my confusion.

Series 4 is screening in New Zealand as of 2 weeks ago, it's the greatest thing i've ever seen and way more offensive that the older ones... you guys have my sympathies

I'm a massive fan of family guy ever since i first viewed it in 2001. It's a shame its been off the air for so long but i'm not going to wait to see season 4 on dvd. I have myself a multi regional dvd and have already reserved the region one dvd of family guy volume 3 from amazon. I know the region 2 version won't be out here for a long time. So why wait i'll be watching season 4(series 4 uk) well before it comes out here. Oh play usa is also a good website aswell.
