Family Guy Ratings for BBC Two

As most of you know, Family Guy revisited UK television sets last Saturday night. What some of you may not know is the ratings for the episode. The ratings for The Thin White Line were rather disappointing with only one million viewers, or five percent of the total audience. Of course, it’s not all bad. As public knowledge of Family Guy’s timeslot grows, so will the ratings. Family Guy is scheduled to air for twenty more weeks in the UK.

Im not surprised that it only had 1 million viewers. Im a huge family guy fan and i didnt know that it started then (even though i have all the dvds and ive seen whats been aired of season 4) i wold have still watched it. I always want to see family guy succeed.

    Hi
1million aint that bad for a saturday night at 10pm in the uk. There is a little thing called match of the day(football) that may interfer with the figures.
    Keep em coming!!!

i was very happy to see family guy back on tele it was great except i thought we were seeing the new series 4 not 3 but anyway it was still greatb to watch it again! cheers family guy.

  4. Anon (Thu 27 October 2005)

Its hard to generate high ratings on a sat night when the age group most likely to watch are down the pub. Move it to a Mon or Tues night.

  5. Baz (Thu 27 October 2005)

Showing Series 3 which most fans of Family Guy in the UK have owned on DVD for 2 years means that they're not going to draw many people in. I won't be surprised if ratings get lower as people realise it's Series 3 and not Series 4.

  6. Chris (Thu 27 October 2005)

I'm the same as Tom, i knew it was coming to bbc2, but i only found out it was on the day after it was actually on. season 3, most people who watch family guy would have seen most of season 3, as it was previously shown on channel 4

  7. Nick (Thu 27 October 2005)

Well they didn't really advertise it, did they?

  8. kieran (Thu 27 October 2005)

does anyone know when season 4 is coming out?

  9. Adam Varney (Thu 27 October 2005)

When series 4 is on watch the ratings go up and up but i still will watch series 3 even though i have them all on dvd, plus i thought American Dad was brilliant!

  10. Steve Phillips (Thu 27 October 2005)

I saw loads of advertising for Family Guy the advert was all over bbc2 at night which is when there focus audience would be watching and I heard advertising on Radio 1. The figures will be low as people see that it is series 3 showing and not 4. I mean i'll watch 4 when its shown but series 3 I can watch on DVD or on FX 270 on sky.

  11. grandruse (Thu 27 October 2005)

Should have shown series 4!!! Yet again the BBC make another fine mess of something. We want series 4 and we want it NOW!!! The movie is rather ace tho!!!!

  12. Ryan (Thu 27 October 2005)

    Several facts here:
    1. where was the publicity? No billboards, no magazine spreads, no interviews with the cast - nothing!
    2. The majority of a family guy audience is out at the pub on a saturday night, not sat in waiting for the show.
    3. Terrible timeslot, if they want viewing figures they will NOT get them from 10pm on a saturday night-friday night would be a massive hit

In all truths though, do we really want some annoying kids walking around with Family Guy Hoodies on saying its 'cool' when we've been here from the start, of course I love showing my DVDs to new people, but I hate it when a show becomes to popular for its own good (little britan and Lost) So Im hoping this wont happen.

Even though it was a repeat, got i laughed my ass off - its been such a long time since Ive seen that episode, best gag has to be 'whats your name' and he replies by looking around the room and spotting items that just so happen to be his name! GENIUS

    LONG LIVE THE FAMILY

  13. James Robertson (Thu 27 October 2005)

Does anyone know if they're censored at all? When they were on channel four during the day sections were cut out. I don't think I'll be watching them on tv as I've had season 3 for ages on DVD, but I'm just curious on their censoring position.

  14. Paul Phillips (Thu 27 October 2005)

1 Million for the 10 O'Clock Saturday Night slot on BBC2 isn't bad, just look at the ratings for the Johnny Vegas show that followed Family Guy!. Saying that the BBC expected a 'Simpsons Style' hit is ridiclious, since it would be totally un-suitable for the 6 O'Clock slot.

  15. Niall (Fri 28 October 2005)

every fucking family guy fan has series 3 on dvd, we want Series 4 you bbc2 idiots

  16. T-o-X (Fri 28 October 2005)

They've put the best show, on the worst channel... WHY? 10pm? ok who in the UK watches BBC2 as a choice? Who is watching BBC2 at 10pm?? Hardly ANYONE! I think they shud have sold it to Channel 4, ITV, Sky one. Or at least a channel ppl look at for more then a second b4 switching.

  17. Bob (Sat 29 October 2005)

ITV?? It shouldnt be on ITV, ITV viewers want Ant and Dec, and X-Factor because they are the ultimate saddoes! Family Guy is too sophisticated for those NERDS

  18. Hollo (Sat 29 October 2005)

BBC Those Damn idiots dont advertise shit ! , get more publicity , they should have atleast advertised the teaser everytime like they do with other shows.., FG has put in a graveyard slot ! again !

  19. Darren Stanbury (Sat 29 October 2005)

yeah i will tell u why it got low ratings because everyone has seen series 3 now, everyone has seen it or got it on dvd. we want series FOUR!! not 3, for godsakes bbc get it right!!

    p.s. american dad is brillaint

  20. AC (Sat 29 October 2005)

T-o-X, showing it on SkyOne would be worse. Few people have access to that channel, unlike BBC Two, and it almost never gets as high an audience share as 5%. BBC Two is a great channel, it is just bad scheduling. Hopefully the BBC will soon wake up and smell the coffee and put it on another night.

  21. Stephen Marsh (Sat 29 October 2005)

I'm quite suprised by the ratings because, all the reveiws i've seen in TV guides have been pretty good and i would have thought that people new to the show might check it out. And as for advertising, the first advert i saw for it was a week before it was on and have seen them quite regularly since. Match of the Day won't interfer with the ratings as it is on at 10:30, so that's bad news for american dad then, which supprised me as i thought it would be a bland Family Guy rip off, but i never stopped laughing! Most people i know go out on a Friday night, not Saturday, so that won't warm the ratings, so the only reason for the low ratings is that it is series 3, which sucks. I'll still watch it though, and get the unenlightened to watch it too.

  22. Matt Sims (Mon 31 October 2005)

90% of real Family Guy fans are very likely to already own Series 3 or the Compendium on DVD and/or will be down the pub on a Saturday night. It was inevitable the figures will be low. I know me and my friens were all hyped up for the BBC2 showing but on the Friday night when we realised it was S3 we decided to go out instead.

  23. Ben Salinas (Mon 31 October 2005)

The best thiong to do about season four would be to go to and buy yourself a multi-regional dvd player if you don't already have one and reserve the region one dvd from either amazon or playusa.com when it is released on the 29th November on DVD. That's what i'm doing. Why wait there will be a very long wait for season four to come out.

  24. george pinkett (Wed 02 November 2005)

i love family guy on fx but when is the fourth series showing?
