Season finale

Posted by Andy on Monday, May 15, 2006

There’s a 90 minute season finale of Family Guy on Fox next Sunday starting from 8:30pm:-

After a competitive swim lesson, Stewie tries to destroy his rival by blowing up the lifeguard tower. But when his plan backfires and he has a near-death experience, Stewie turns to the bottle to numb himself. A bizarre chain of events leads Stewie and Brian on a road trip to San Francisco, where Stewie confronts a guy he believes is his real father. But when it turns out he’s actually Stewie in the future, Stewie gets a glimpse of his dismal adult life and realizes he must return to his own time and rewrite history. Meanwhile, Peter’s rants on everyday irritations become a new hit segment on the Quahog Nightly News.

This is the made for TV version of the Family Guy movie, Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. It will contain brand new scenes which are not available on the original DVD.

You can purchase the original DVD Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story from Amazon.com.

05/22/06 – Just to clarify, the episodes shown on Fox yesterday were always intended to be shown on TV after being released on DVD. They were original produced as part of season 4, and were produced as three episodes a third of the way through production (based on the production codes). Prior to release Seth MacFarlane had commented on this intention in interviews. In an interview with USNews in September last year he mentioned that the DVD meant they could develop two edits of the episodes allowing them to use jokes on the DVD that would not be permitted on Fox. Then way back in January Planet Family Guy reported that Fox were going to show the episodes this spring.

i am pissed! trying to pass the movie on as the season finale! i have already purchased the movie and watched it, they said it would never be shown on tv! now i've spent the money on it and i get screwed out of a real season finale! seth macfarlen owes me a season finale and i am going on a hunger strike until i get a real one!!!!!!!!!

I think it's bull. They copped out and took the easy route, playing a movie they already sold to a bunch of people as a Season Finale?

I'm sure those who purchased the movie are feeling a bit jaded that no less than a year later and it's on network TV. Sure, unedited, but lets face it, the swearing in the movie sounded foced and uneeded.

I'm not happy with Family Guy because of this crap.

In response to some of the comments posted: these episodes were always intended to be shown on TV, and this was being said prior to the release of the DVD. However, there is meant to be a fair amount of material on the DVDs that will not appear in the episodes on TV. As for the TV episodes, we (PFG) have been assured that there will be some new material that was not on the DVD.

I agree with Andy. Anyone who's followed it knows that this was written as a 3 part episode are originally (remember each part even had a different title..not just part one or two showing that is was indeed orginally meant as episodes), and we've know that it would eventually air sometime this season. Get over it.

Making a season Finale out of the movie is just a cheep way to get out of it. You can't make a season Finale and sell it before the season is even over it's just not right.

  9. Josh (Thu 18 May 2006)

The MOVIE was awesome and whatever they cut out is only gonna make it bad so boo fox. he he he he

Yeah. This IS NOT cool at all. The fans were the majority of the reason the show was brought back, and now they F us.

"i have already purchased the movie and watched it, they said it would never be shown on tv! "

They have never said the movie would not be shown on TV. THIS WAS THE PLAN ALL ALONG, DUMBASS.

You got a very good season finale last week.

Are you sure there is going to be new material for TV? If that is the case I may have to watch.

  13. aBe (Fri 19 May 2006)

i was very curious on wat the season finale was gonna be since i have to TIVO Family Guy cause i watch The Sopranos on sunday nights...the fact thats its a rehashed Stewie Movie is as lame as they come. Yea we'll get a few more scenes that werent on the DVD but that means i'll own both versions wheneva Volume 4 comes out....i love family guy but geez 2 of the same thing sucks...

    my 2 cents!

wait and watch it, and see how much is different before you complain too much...

  15. cartman (Sun 21 May 2006)

Funny how on a Family Guy only website, everyone is pissed at the writers of the show.

  16. samantha (Sun 21 May 2006)

I'm glad to find that I'm not the only one who feels that fg really cheaped out on the final episode. Besides the fact that they doped thousands of people into paying $20 bucks for an "exclusive fg movie" that just turned out to be this seasons finale. What the hell is up with that? Do they think we wouldn't notice, or are stupid, or do they simply not care? We are just the fans, right?

  17. Mike (Sun 21 May 2006)

What a joke. Personally, I want my money back for the DVD. I thought I was getting something special, something that was different and I got something that I would have seen anyway and that will also be sold as part of the season DVD's when they some out. Last week should have been the finale.

  18. Haron Daddy (Mon 22 May 2006)

I sat down sunday evening to watch the season finale of Family Guy thinking that it was going to be a new episode. They flash 90 minutes of Family Guy up next. I freaked out in excitement. Then it starts to play, What the Duece!? and a feeling of F-ing anger overcomes me. I saw this already!!! I turned it off in disgust, thinking to myself that I should have watched Sopranos instead. But now I may have to watch it completly cause people are saying that it has new scenes. So is it worth watching? Does it have the same ending as the DVD movie? I think I am going to have to answer my own questions. I am a fan so I want to see the added scenes which should be at least 30 minutes of new footage. If not then the Family Guy people screwed their fans way up the azz. But I still love them cause there are going to be more seasons to come. Just dont do it again!

  19. Dan in Calgary. (Mon 22 May 2006)

I watched it tonight, and as far as i can tell, the only removed scene was of Quagmire dialing - surprise. ;-) But they didn't replace it with much at all, a '24' sequency with a clip from the chevy chase show. I expected more for having to wait out commericials.

  20. Joe (Mon 22 May 2006)

"wait and watch it, and see how much is different before you complain too much..."-Serge

Oh, look someone who makes sense. I mean how can you judge it until you have seen it? Think before you type, or you may find your head so far up your ass you won't be able to get it out ;)

  21. no more support! (Mon 22 May 2006)

This is complete bull crapp. It was bad enough that Volume 3 only had 13 episodes! That was a waste of $45. Then the movie was another $25. And now they played it as a series finale?? They're just milking this show like crazy. And I will not buy any more family guy. I bought the first DVD's to support the show, but not anymore.

  22. Rob (Mon 22 May 2006)

I'm amused by the number of people here that feel pissed off with last night's episode. Those of you questioning whether the FG-people think you're stupid, well it would seem like you are if you were expecting the DVD movie to never air on TV. When the DVD was released it was kept no secret that it would make it to TV as a three-part episode. It was mentioned on this site enough times.

If the show is pissing you off that much then try using your remote and changing the channel!

  23. ANGRY FG FAN (Mon 22 May 2006)

DIE SETH MCFARLANE. I hope you die of the blackest of cancerous tumors. HOW COULD YOU ALLOW FOX TO F*** THE FANS OVER LIKE THIS?

I AM PUTTING ALL my DVD collections and "MOVIE" on EBAY IMMEDIATELY. As far as I'm concerned, there is no Family Guy anymore, just a money-milking cash cow that is about to seriously suffer from such a dick move.

LAST TIME I CHECKED, they ADVERTISED the FAMILY GUY MOVIE to be "UNCENSORED" and "too hot for TV!" I'm SICK OF "UNCENSORED" being a SELLING POINT NOW, and then you BUY the product, it IS CENSORED! (Wonder showzen).

Seth McFarlane, the fans made it possible for Family Guy to be THE ONLY SHOW in the history of the universe to be brought back from cancellation at the VERY SAME NETWORK. YOU DON'T MESS UP A SECOND CHANCE LIKE THAT.

  24. malcolm (Mon 22 May 2006)

i have not seen it and i what to see it now

  25. Jerry (Mon 22 May 2006)

I was F***ing pissed I was watching the simpsons and the stwie griffin the untold story came on. only it was a regullar episode. I felt F***ing robed I spent forever trying to find someone with a copy of the Movie but some lazy douchebags just get it handed to them.

  26. zeronormality (Mon 22 May 2006)

You know what really grinds my gears? The Family Guy season finale. All I can say is I'm glad the bandwagon hype is done. But just because it is dosnt mean they can rehash a movie that wasnt even that good :P

  27. Nees (Mon 22 May 2006)

I will accept this only if they do another three episode finale again next year... and don't release it seperately than the actual season on dvd. It really is a good movie and would have made an apt season finale if most of us had not already seen it...probably shouldn't have advertised it as "new" on television either. As far as the changes go, it's TV, deal with it.

  28. reggie (Mon 22 May 2006)

what a f'n rip-off. False advertising? ALL NEW?

  29. Your mom (Mon 22 May 2006)

It's the fact that they repackaged the movie into 3 seperate shows and sold that as the season finale. Not that they wouldn't have shown it on tv someday. You have to know that they would. It's that they put it on so fast and as a finale. Respect your fans more than that. The fans put you back on tv.

  30. CHILL OUT (Mon 22 May 2006)

I think you guys need to chill out...seriously
I'm glad they put it on the air...cuz now poor people such as myself can enjoy the movie. If you guys didn't wanna see it...why didn't you just turn off the Tv? just cuz you guys thought you were all cool cuz you had the DVD and could watch something that half the world couldn't see doesn't mean that you have to ruin it for the small people out there...

  31. eric (Tue 23 May 2006)

this is b.s.; this was just the stewie utold story movie

  32. Bender (Wed 24 May 2006)

You gotta be kidding me, how can people still defend family guy? Sure, they said they intended the movie to be shown on tv as 3 episodes, thats cool and all. BUT to make it a season finale? That is the laziest thing to do, its such a bitch move. This entire season has been full of lazy attempts to milk the fans. How many episodes were in this season? Now the fans are going to have to by volume 4 with a movie they already have? And for what, a few extras that they couldve easily blended into another episode (its family guy, the jokes dont follow the 'plot', they could've taken these additonal scenes and added them to a real season finale) I've just had it with family guy. I use to love this show, i signed the petition to get it back on the air, i converted so many people to love the show. Back in the day, the show was full of life and balls. Now its become a full-blown milking machine. I now wish the show wasn't put back on the air, it would've retained its glory. Now its on a steady decline.

  33. jesus (Wed 24 May 2006)

im one of the biggest fans of family guy i dont mind if they show the same thing as on the dvd ill still enjoy it on the season that is about 2 be in stores !!!!!!

  34. jose (Wed 24 May 2006)

this episode was as cool as fudge

  35. k10sbride (Thu 25 May 2006)

I was so excited when I brought that dvd home, but was totally disapppointed after I wattched it. The Stewie movie had to be the worst FG material I had ever seen. I was a loyal fan until that point. If they really wanted to make a "movie", they should have spent several years on it like all the other animation studiod out there. I go to an art college where one of my professors is working on the simpsons movie. Now those are real animators! They've been working on that for a long time. And also, I agree with everybody else, F*** FG for showing the movie as a season finale.

  36. Jaymo (Sun 28 May 2006)

I watched The Season Finale on Fox in the US whilst I was on vacation from the UK. I personally loved it. I think you guys complaining aren't looking at the bigger picture. I think you got 27-28 episodes of FG this season, thats amazing for any series!!! You shouldnt be complaining about not getting a decent season finale, as far as I can see you had 3 or 4 more episodes than you should have had. I can see what FOX are doing by releasing The Untold Story on DVD first. The entire series is only back on TV because of its immense DVD sales, it would make sense for them to do that. Get some perspective please. Long live Seth Mcfarlane and FG.

  37. Fuck This (Sun 28 May 2006)

Im Kinda late, but not making a season finale is just cheap. I didnt even watch it, because i had alredy seen it, and the extra senes wouldnt make it that big of a diffeence. I dont think that i "wont watch" family guy anymore, but i do think that the show has declined from when it stared, and if this new seasnon isnt good, then they gt some explaining to do. Just my 2 cents. Whoever is not pissed should be shot.

  38. josh (Mon 29 May 2006)

You are all nuts yeah it was "cheap" but seriously we got faily guay back. If you didn't like the "season finale" then don't consider it that. think of the week before's episode as the sf. The only thing i'll complain about is that fox marketed as the sf instead of the movie. It would have saved them a bunch of angry fans who were expecting a new episode. If they would have said "Stewie Griffin the Untold Story with new never before seen material would any one here be as pissed off as they are. I didn't think so. So don't be angry at FG and Seth be pissed at FOX's marketing people OK?

  39. :0bese (Tue 30 May 2006)

oh god, shut up ur whining, its only a TV show

  40. Drew (Thu 01 June 2006)

A true FG fan like myself would enjoy the show through its ups and downs. Some people may think that lately the show has been going downhill, but I've still witnessed some great episodes that are just as good as the previous seasons. As for airing the movie as the season finale, they always said they were going to and did what they had to do. I think some ignorant people out there don't realize how hard it is to create a show like this. Seth and the gang are still coming out with fresh material and even visiting back to jokes in previous episodes so true fans can enjoy it. I don't see how anyone who has ever liked family guy can insist that they absolutely despise it now. Maybe they should just create their own show and STFU!

  41. Mark, Australia (Wed 14 June 2006)

The vast majority of people who wrote into this forum ,are a bunch of whinging bitches!, stop complaing and just be gratful that Family Guy is even on tv.
The writing on season four is fantastic and keeps getting better with every episode.
