Australia: Family Guy - Seasons 1-5 Collection

Posted by Andy on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 in Australasia

The Family Guy – Seasons 1-5 Collection will be released on region 4 DVD in Australia on November 29th. Although the set claims to be seasons 1-5 it will actually be the episodes from seasons 1-4 as listed on this site; the seasons are being marketed differently in Australia to how Fox is defining them in the States (don’t ask us why). The packaging for this set looks pretty decent, and unique in comparison with the same set being sold in the US and UK.

Australia: Season 5 DVD out in November

Posted by Andy on Saturday, August 19, 2006 in Australasia

According to the Australian website TV on DVD Family Guy Season 5 will be released in Australia in November to coincide with the US/Canada release of Volume 4. Note that despite being called season 5 the episodes will in fact be the second half of the fourth season. The same confusion has been caused with the UK release. The seasons of Family Guy seem to be defined differently in the UK and Australia to the US for the DVD releases. We have no idea why. For an explanation of the season numbers see our FAQ section.

Australia: Family Guy on Fox 8 tonight at 8.30

Posted by Andy on Sunday, July 23, 2006 in Australasia

From a Foxtel Press Release

“In the first such deals in Australia, Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution has awarded long-term future Australian television rights to Network Ten (TEN) and FOXTEL.”

“This is the first time a major US studio has apportioned first-run rights across both free-to-air and subscription television in Australia and marks a completely new approach to international program supply agreements.”

Okay, so what does it mean to you? Well, the new deal effects the showing of Family Guy and American Dad in Australia. It wasn’t meant to take affect until 2007, but as of tonight season 4 of Family Guy is showing at 8.30pm on Fox 8 (a foxtel/austar channel) followed by first season American Dad at 9pm. These are new weekly times for the two shows and marks an improvement on the poor scheduling previously done by Channel 7 (if you were in a State that got the shows).

Australia: FG On FOX8

Posted by James on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 in Australasia

OptusTV has been running ads lately saying that Family Guy will be shown on FOX8 (Channel 8), from next Tuesday (28-03-06).

I guess this means that it won’t be on The Comedy Channel (Channel 15) anymore, which is good news for some, bad news for others, depending which channels you have.

Stay tuned for more news regarding the change, including air dates and times.

Australia: Two Reasons To Love Channel 7

Posted by James on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 in Australasia

The first reason is that Family Guy will be on again December 15 at 9:30pm, the episode will be When You Wish Upon A Weinstein:

Peter attempts to get Chris converted to Judaism to help him perform better at school after meeting a Jewish accountant who helps him get back some money he was conned out of by Jim Kaplan.

The second reason is that after that at 10:00pm you can now catch American Dad, another animated series created by Seth MacFarlane, the man behind Family Guy.

The first episode to air will be the Pilot episode:

Stan uses his CIA skills to help Steve win class president and the heart of the hottest girl in class, Lisa Silver (v: Carmen Electra). But when being class president makes Steve mad with power, Stan has to jump in to save the day. Meanwhile, Roger helps Haley with her school paper. In return, she hooks him up with boatloads of junk food to curb his sweet tooth. Unfortunately, some Chocodiles send him over the edge and a sugar crash prohibits him from finishing one of her papers, forcing Haley to pick up the pieces.

You can’t ask for much more than that from Channel 7, so do yourself and them a favour, and tune in Thursday, cheers.
