Seth MacFarlane on BBC Radio 1

Posted by Andy on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 in Europe

BBC Radio 1

Seth MacFarlane will be joining Colin Murray on BBC Radio 1 tomorrow (November 16th) between 10pm and midnight GMT. Those of you not in the UK will be able to listen to the show online via the BBC Radio 1 website. The BBC also provide a listen on-demand service so you will be able to listen to the show for seven days after broadcast. Colin Murray is apparently a big fan of Family Guy.

UK: Family Guy on the move... again!

Posted by Andy on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 in Europe

BBC Three

Family Guy is on the move again to Monday nights. That means there will be no Family Guy on BBC Three tonight (guess what’s on instead… yes it’s another Two Pints of Lager repeat). The next double-bill is on Monday 13th November from 11.30pm starting with Peter’s Got Woods.

UK: New Family Guy DVDs out today

Posted by Andy on Monday, October 30, 2006 in Europe

Two new Family Guy DVDs are out today in the UK: Family Guy Season 5 (which is in reality the second half of the fourth season) and the Family Guy Collector’s Pack containing every episode from the first four seasons (although it refers to season 1 to 5 on the box). We are well aware that the labeling of the seasons on these DVDs are confusing, but for some reason Fox in the UK has decided to categorises the episodes differently to Fox in the States.

Originally Family Guy was only available on DVD in the UK and were sold as seasons 1, 2, and 3. Then the States caught up by selling those seasons as two volumes. Since then Fox has opted for global releases, which seems to have resulted in the UK DVDs continuing to be labelled as seasons despite not being complete seasons. UK fans do not need to worry though, as the same episodes are being released on both sides of the Atlantic.

Family Guy Volume 4 (the US equivalent of the UK season 5 release) is out in the US and Canada November 14th. Family Guy Season 5 is out in Australia tomorrow.

UK: Family Guy moves to Wednesdays

Posted by Andy on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 in Europe

BBC Three

For those of you following the fourth season of Family Guy on BBC Three in the UK be warned that it moves to Wednesday nights this week! The first of the usual double-bill is 8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter at 11.20pm followed by Breaking Out Is Hard to Do.

The second half of season 4 is being released on DVD in the UK from next Monday as season 5 (the first half is already available as season 4). This means that once more the DVD release will be out before the BBC have even got round to showing the episodes on TV.

UK: Family Guy returns to UK television

Posted by Andy on Monday, September 18, 2006 in Europe

This can be seen as either good news or bad. Family Guy is finally returning to UK television with the BBC finally deciding its time to show the fourth season (note fourth season not fifth). The BBC have decided to move the show from its Saturday night slot on BBC Two to the grave yard slot on a Tuesday night on BBC Three. While the show is perhaps well suited to BBC Three’s audience it will annoy some who don’t have access to the channel. Episodes air as double-bills from 11.30pm Tuesday nights, starting tomorrow with North by North Quahog and Fast Times at Buddy Cianci High. It currently appears to be scheduled for just 5 weeks!

The BBC finally updated their Family Guy website to say that the fourth season starts tomorrow. Their promotion of the show is essentially non-existent, I suspect they bought the show and now don’t know what to do with it.

UK: Peter Griffin: Husband, Father, Brother... tonight

Posted by Andy on Sunday, February 12, 2006 in Europe

Tonight on BBC Two Peter Griffin: Husband, Father, Brother… from 11.55pm. Peter discovers that he has a black ancestor, and Stewie tries to learn some secrets from the cheerleaders. Full details can be found in the episode capsule.

(Hopefully the Winter Olympics coverage will not disrupt this scheduling like the Snooker was the other week).

UK: Family Guy is back on BBC Two

Posted by Andy on Thursday, January 12, 2006 in Europe

Family Guy returns to BBC Two later this month with the previously cancelled airing of Kiss Seen Around the World on Sunday 22 January at 11.40pm. Meg gets an internship at the local TV station and a bully steals Stewie’s tricycle.

In other UK news it looks like the region 2 release of series 4 on DVD is set for the 24th April 2006. We have no further details on this yet, but we will bring them to you when we get them.

Just to update the news about the region 2 DVD. It looks like it will contain 21 episodes, that’s more than the region 1 release, from North By North Quahog to Patriot Games.

Finally, keep an eye on Planet Family Guy as we have a contest coming soon.

UK: Family Guy Week starts tonight

Posted by Rob on Sunday, December 18, 2005 in Europe

Just a reminder that BBC Two’s Family Guy week (part of their Christmas season) begins tonight just after midnight (00.15). Further details can be found in our earlier post.

Note that A Very Special Family Guy Freakin’ Christmas will be shown on the 24th now instead of Screwed the Pooch. More festive really!

UK: Family Guy week starting 19th December

Posted by Andy on Saturday, December 10, 2005 in Europe

There’s no Family Guy on BBC Two in the UK this week. However, there is going to be a whole week of episodes leading up to Christmas showing just after midnight on BBC Two. This is presumably to get the series 3 episodes over with so that they can start the new series (series 4) soon into the new year.

Note that the first episode of the week is early morning Monday.
